Here follows a sampling of my forty year obsession.
2017, Daddy's Blue Guitar (by James McGee & Nancy Major)
A song about a man, a guitar, and too many years on the road.
2016, Jimmy and the Jumpcuts
It was good while it lasted, now it's over. A sampling of tunes from the Sunday afternoon regulars. Jimmy and The Jumpcuts were David Beaver, Billy White, Glenn McFadyen, Nancy Johnston, and Fergus Tyrrell.
The 2000's, Spider
An oedipal tale from the streets of Toronto.
Mary
1988
- Wrecking Crew
Recorded at Carty sound, with Glenn on guitar and
Bill pounding out the bass notes.
1986
- Media Man with Blind Spot
Wrote this for a brother who could never get too much stimulation.
Is that fair? Well since we haven't talked for 20 years, I guess it
is. Ironically enough the brother was the one who inspired me most
towards music. Don't know where he is now. Don't know what I'm going
to do if he dies. Time will tell. And on and on and on and on. Blind
Spot was and still is - James McGee, Bill White, Glenn McFadyen and
Doug Cawker.
You can read more about Blind Spot here.
1985- Athens / This Far
When I was young and new to Toronto, I would for reasons of homesickness be travelling back and forth a lot between there and Ottawa. The symbolic halfway point would be Athens, Ontario (give or take a few miles, please don't consult mapquest and hold me to it.)
1983 - Love Comes n Love Goes
Written for an old friend who had trouble with commitment. Bass by
Billy White.
1974 - Dusk, re-recorded in 2007
When your favourite chord is Am, you songs tend to have a certain, how can I say this, tone. This is one of the first ones I can remember writing. Waitng for the right girl I guess. Someone turn on the lights.
